2025 IAHR-APD Executive Committee (EC) Meeting in Singapore

TIME: 20:00–21:30, Thursday, July 3, 2025

VENUE: Singapore EXPO

CHAIR: Norio Tanaka (IAHR-APD Chair), Won Kim (IAHR-APD Secretary)

  • Key Outcomes:
  • Marked the first fully face-to-face EC meeting since the pandemic, with strong attendance (10 out of 15 members, 67%).
  • Reviewed 2024–25 APD activities and financial reports.
  • Endorsed the host cities for the 25th and 26th Congresses.
  • Approved by-law amendments regarding the Executive Committee size, YPN seat, and Secretariat rules.
  • All proceedings were documented in the official minutes for transparency and archival purposes.

Journal of Hydro-Environment Research (JHER)

Continues joint publication (Elsevier) with KWRA & IAHR-APD.

  • Performance: Achieved a 2024 Impact Factor of 2.3, demonstrating a steady upward trend.
  • Editorial Standards: Maintained rigorous academic standards, with a 78% rejection rate during preliminary screening.
  • Process Improvements: Introduced a fast-track review system for leading scholars to accelerate review turnaround and enhance publication rates.
  • Strategic Goals: Set future objectives to promote research focusing on climate change, artificial intelligence (AI), and hydro-environmental sensing technologies.
  • Special Issues: Continued emphasis on publishing special issues to attract high-quality submissions.

25th IAHR-APD Congress – “Hydro-environments in the Era of Climate Change and AI”

19 – 22 Jul 2026, Incheon, Korea

  • Objective: To provide a collaborative platform for knowledge-sharing, exchange, and technological presentations in water science and engineering across the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Subthemes: Climate change, AI & water, fluvial processes, eco-hydraulics, urban hydrology, estuarine hydraulics, and more.
  • Organizing Body: Led by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) comprising over 100 local experts, an International Advisory Committee, and an International Scientific Committee (ISC) with over 26 members.
  • Program Structure: Includes keynote speeches, technical sessions, welcome & closing ceremonies, and technical tours. Twelve special sessions have been proposed, with further proposals from EC members strongly encouraged.
  • Call to Action: Strong support and active participation from EC members are requested to ensure a successful event..

26th IAHR-APD Congress – “He Tāonga te Wai – Water is a Treasure”

8-12 Feb 2028, Wellington, New Zealand

  • Tentative Date: February 8–12, 2028 (Strategically scheduled around the Lunar New Year and local holidays)
  • Venue: Rutherford House, Victoria University of Wellington (CBD, near the railway station), New Zealand
  • Progress & Strategy:
  • The Scientific Committee is currently being assembled, with a strong focus on encouraging regional collaboration.
  • Promotional activities will remain low-key until the conclusion of the 2026 Incheon Congress.
